Q.What oils do you use in your soap?
A.We use olive oil for its moisturizing properties, coconut for lathering and hardening, and soy oil for its hardening and moisturizing qualities. We do not use animal-based oils. We add carrot oil to all our soap for the beta carotene and "anti-aging" properties it provides.
Q.Is there lye in my finished soap?
A.Soapmaking requires the use of an alkali, and lye is used as it has been standardized over the past 100 years. When properly made, finished soap contains no lye, only soap and glycerin. Our recipes have been tested on humans (friends and family), and the pH of each batch is tested for mildness.
Q.How long does it take for your soap to cure?
A.After cutting our soap, we allow it to dry for 3-4 weeks, depending on the season it is made.
Q.How do I care for my soap?
A.When kept out of standing water, such as in a soap dish with drainage holes, your bar of soap will last as long or longer than commercial soap.
Q.How do you color and scent your soaps.
A.We use only essential oils and fine fragrance oils to scent our soaps. We use cosmetic grade colorants, spices and herbs, or juices to color our soaps.
Q.How long will the scent last?
A.Since the scent is distributed throughout the soap when made, your soap should always have a scent. If you keep your soap in extreme temperatures or for a long period of time, some of the surface scent may be lost.
